About The Cause

In September 2023, our close friend Greg Marshall tragically passed away from heart failure while awaiting a heart transplant. Greg was a passionate ice hockey fan, a former player, and a beloved manager at Planet Ice Leeds, which made his loss even more profound for all of us who knew him. To honor his life and legacy, we came together to create the Greg Marshall All Stars Memorial Ice Hockey Game.

With the support of Greg's family, especially his mum, we organized the first event on July 21st, 2024, just five weeks after we began planning. The game was a heartfelt tribute to Greg, and we are proud to say that it raised £10,500 for two charities that were close to Greg's heart: Live Life Give Life, an organ transplant charity that supported Greg throughout his transplant journey, and The Royal British Legion, an organization that held a special place in Greg’s life as he was a former Marine.

This year’s event will take place at Planet Ice Leeds on July 20th, 2025, at 5:50 PM. Greg's connection to Planet Ice Leeds as a manager is why we hold this event there each year, ensuring that his spirit continues to be part of the rink he loved so much. We are determined to make this second memorial game even bigger, raising more funds for these important causes.

This event means the world to everyone who knew Greg, and we truly believe that with your support, we can continue Greg’s legacy and provide hope to those in need of life-saving organ transplants and support our brave veterans.
